TDK Corporation has announced the introduction of the TDK-Lambda brand CUS150M series of AC/DC power supplies capable of operating in ambient temperatures of up to 80°C without the need for forced air cooling. Available in four package types and delivering up to 150W output power, the power supplies are suitable for use in both Class I or Class II (double insulated) installations.

Target application areas include home healthcare, medical, dental, test and measurement, broadcast and industrial equipment. The U-channel models measure 64 x 116 x 38.5mm (WxLxH) and can be conduction cooled using a cold plate to provide 150W at 50°C, 100W at 70°C and 50W at 80°C. With just 1m/s airflow the output power can be increased to 140W at 70°C and 75W at 85°C.

The open frame version has the industry standard 50.8 x 101.6mm (2” x 4”) footprint and a height of 31.5mm. With convection cooling the output power is 120W at 40°C and with forced air cooling it can also deliver 150W at 50°C, 140W at 70°C and 75W at 85°C. An optional cover or a top mounted fan is also available.

Currently, the CUS150M is available with 12V, 24V and 48V outputs, with 15V, 18V, 28V and 36V outputs to be released early 2018. All models can operate from a wide range 85 to 264Vac input, have efficiencies of up to 94% and an active average efficiency of >91%. No load power consumption is <500mW.

The series has an input to output isolation of 4,000Vac (2 x MoPP), an input to ground isolation of 1,500Vac (1 x MoPP) and an output to ground isolation of 1,500Vac (1 x MoPP) for suitability in B and BF rated medical equipment. The leakage current is <250µA and touch current is <100µA. The maximum operating, transportation and storage altitude is 5,000m.

The CUS150M series is safety certified to IEC/EN/ES 60601 1, IEC/EN/UL 60950 1 with CE marking for the Low Voltage and RoHS2 Directives. The units also comply with EN 55011 B and EN 55032 B conducted and radiated emissions (Class I and II), and meet the EN 61000 3-2 harmonics, IEC 60601 1 2 Edition 4 and IEC 61000 4 immunity standards.
