Medical AC/DC power supply features 4” x 6” footprint
Tumbler Technologies + TRUMPower has launched a new addition to its AC/DC switching power supply line-up with the TWM360A series, which meets BF (Body Floating) rated output requirements. Ideal for medical applications, it is capable of delivering 360W of continuous output power at 20 CFM forced air or 250W at convection cooling. Form factor is an open frame PCB in a low profile 4” (L) by 6” (W) by 1.18” (H) package.
The series includes five single output models (12V, 24V, 28V, 48V, 54V), each with an earth leakage current measuring <100µA @ 264VAC, 63 Hz and 2-3% output regulation. Output voltage is factory preset specifically to meet the user’s request. It is 90% efficient at full load, 230 VAC and features a power factor of >0.95 @ 115 VAC, >0.9 @ 230 VAC.
The TWM360A series can withstand voltage of 5,656 VDC from input to output, 2,121 VDC from input to ground, and 2,121 VDC from output to ground. Units have remote control inhibit function and 2 x MOPP primary to secondary isolation, in addition to main output and standby power-on indicators.
Standard output connector is a 6-pole screw terminal block. For 24V and up output models, there is an optional output connector JST P/N B10P-VH-B (3.96mm pitch or equivalent). Operating at a 90 to 264 VAC universal input, the series has 5V/0.5A maximum standby power, along with fan output power of 12V/0.3A maximum.
The unit is has no minimum load requirements and is equipped with short circuit, overvoltage, overload protections. It operates at 0°C to +70°C ambient with derating of 2.5%/°C from +41°C to +70°C at convection; 2.5%/°C from +51°C to +70°C, 1%/°C from -20°C to 0°C at 20 CFM forced air cooling.
Its 250,000 hours-minimum MTBF at full load at 25°C ambient calculated per Telcordia SR-332 proves to be highly reliable. Operation altitude is up to 5000 meters for the ITE grade version and 3000 meters maximum for the medical grade unit.
The TWM360A is approved to the latest medical standards, including UL/IEC/EN 60601-1 (Edition 3.1), ANSI/AAMI ES 60601-1 (2012), CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60601-1 (2014) and UL/IEC/EN 60950-1 (2nd edition) ITE standards.
The power adapter complies with IEC/EN 60601-1-2 4th edition medical EMC and immunity standards including EN 55011 & 55022/EN 55024/FCC class B (conducted and radiated emissions), EN 61000-3-2, EN 61000-4-2 (ESD at 15kV air and 8kV contact), EN 61000-4-3, EN 61000-4-6, EN 61000-4-8, EN 61000-4-11.
In addition, the power supply carries CE mark and complies with RoHS requirements. The TWM360A series are competitively priced in OEM quantity.
