Seiko Instruments (SII) is looking to increase its penetration of Tier 1 OEM customers in the UK and Ireland. To lead the drive it has named Ismosys as the sales and marketing representative for its Electronic Components division. New design-wins are the requirement and Ismosys will work closely with SII’s authorised distribution channels to secure new design-wins for the company’s embedded technology from customers engaged in next-generation industrial and consumer products.

Target applications include automotive, telecommunication, medical, industrial, IoT and ‘wearables’. From its roots in quartz watch technology SII offers a wide range of extremely low current highly functional electronic components such as semiconductors including power management ICs, analogue ICs and memory, quartz crystals and micro batteries.

Ismosys MD Nigel Watts, says that the product portfolio is poised for exponential growth in Europe: “The advantages offered by the SII portfolio – breadth, performance, reliability and cost – simply do not currently enjoy the recognition they deserve in the UK and Ireland,” Watts said.

He cited the company’s lithium battery protection ICs as a particular case in point: “S-82xx devices are typical of SII’s technological edge. The inclusion of these and other SII devices to our line-card will open the door to many applications that we don’t currently service and will enable new customers to benefit from Ismosys’ unparalleled technical sales, marketing and back-office infrastructure.”

Michael Bertsch, SII’s Head of Department – Electronic Components said that Ismosys has exactly the right credentials to develop the UK and Ireland territories for Seiko Instruments: “Together, SII and Ismosys have the ability to deliver a uniquely competitive edge, spanning products, customer service, sales, applications and marketing services,” Bertsch said.
