Franchised distributor Inelco Hunter is pleased to introduce the new FBR53-LE relay, a small, low-power 40A, high-temperature automotive-grade relay.

Designed for PCB mounting, the FBR53-LE stands over 2 mm shorter than similar relays, allowing for more compact design possibilities. This 1 Form U (Form A with twin contacts) relay measures 15.7mm in length, 12.3mm in width, and 14mm in height, with a total volume of 2,704mm³. It is capable of carrying a maximum current of 54A for up to 1 hour and handling a peak inrush current of 200A. The relay has a contact rating of 40A at 14VDC and a nominal coil power of 640 mW, with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +125°C, making it particularly suitable for use in engine compartments.

Developed in response to customer demand, the FBR53-LE offers a 40A solution with reduced heat and power consumption, following on from the FBR53-HW 40A relay. It can replace the FBR53-HW without changes to the terminal layout, offering a straightforward upgrade. The FBR53-LE is designed for handling heavy-duty loads in automotive applications, such as electric power steering, blower/fan motors, starter controllers, and infotainment systems, making it ideal for both fuel-powered and electric vehicles.

The relay’s reduced coil power consumption (W = V x I = V² / R) compared to the FBR53-HW minimises heat generation, which in turn helps conserve battery life in electric vehicles and other battery-dependent applications. This RoHS-compliant, plastic-sealed relay features silver tin oxide contact materials and can serve as a replacement for mini ISO relays. A reflow-capable through-hole version is also available.

Inelco Hunter’s comprehensive engineering support ensures swift integration, accelerating customers' time-to-market. Their team collaborates closely with customers' engineering teams, reflecting Inelco Hunter’s commitment to providing added-value support—an approach that has defined the company for over 30 years, distinguishing them from typical 'stock and ship' distributors.
