Rutronik has expanded its product portfolio with the addition of OMRON’s G9KC power relay, designed for high-performance applications.

This four-pole relay is capable of handling 480 VAC at 40 A, with a low initial contact resistance of a maximum of 6 mΩ. The relay also offers the option of a Form B auxiliary contact, which enhances fault detection capabilities. With its low contact resistance and high short-circuit resistance in accordance with IEC62955, the G9KC stands out as a robust solution, particularly suited for use in 3-phase electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the European market. The G9KC is available for purchase at rutronik24.com.

The G9KC features four poles, low contact resistance, and an optional auxiliary contact that supports reliable fault detection according to the IEC60947-4-1 mirror contact requirement. Its failure rate is level M, with a reference value of 100mA at 24 VDC for the main contact and 10 mA at 5 VDC for the auxiliary contact. Additionally, the relay’s short-circuit resistance meets the stringent IEC62955 standard, ensuring enhanced reliability in high-demand applications.

The relay operates efficiently in a wide temperature range, from -40 to +85°C, without the risk of icing or condensation. Measuring just 35mm wide, 58mm long, and 47mm high, the G9KC has a contact gap of at least 3.6mm, making it compact yet powerful.

The G9KC relay is especially well-suited for use in 3-phase EVSE mode 3 (EV charging stations) with 22 kW (32 A, 3-phase 400 VAC) systems, making it ideal for the EU market. Additionally, it is compatible with inverters for solar and energy storage systems, as well as uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).

Key benefits:

  • 4-pole 40 A relay
  • Maximum initial contact resistance of 6 mΩ
  • High short-circuit resistance, compliant with IEC62955
  • Low coil power consumption: approximately 613mW with 35% holding voltage
  • Compact design
  • Optional auxiliary contact for fault detection in compliance with IEC60947-4-1 mirror contact requirement

Application examples:

  • 3-phase EVSE mode 3 charging stations (especially in the EU market)
  • Solar and energy storage inverters
  • Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)
