Designed to drive space-constrained and power dense applications in a variety of markets, including consumer, industrial and automotive, the LMR22007 SIMPLE SWITCHER regulator has been announced by Texas Instruments. The device features an integrated synchronous MOSFET delivering peak efficiency of 94.6%.

According to TI, this is the industry’s smallest 12V, 750mA DC/DC power regulator. The LMR22007 is supplied in a 9-pin Wafer Chip Scale Package with dimensions of 1.6x1.6x0.5mm. This features strategic pin placement that eliminates micro vias and requires as little as two layers of printed circuit board. With as little as three external components, a complete 12V LMR22007 power supply design measures less than 30mm2. It is suitable for applications including single to multiple Li-ion cells, USB, 5V and 12V power supplies

Making it easier for engineers to design a power supply for their system, the switching regulator delivers up to 750mA of continuous load current with the addition of an adjustable input current limit. This protects the source supply during start-up by preventing excessive inrush currents. With a low-current mode to maintain efficiency under light-load conditions, the LMR22007 has a control architecture which provides fast transient performance and excellent regulation under varying input and output conditions.

Operating over an input voltage range of 2.7-20V, the nano regulator delivers an output voltage of 0.9-5.5V and withstands input voltage transients to 24V. Additionally, the LMR22007 operates over a temperature range from -40 to +125°C and features internal compensation, internal soft start, input under-voltage protection, internal bootstrap capacitor and thermal shutdown.

Available now in volume production, the LMR22007 SIMPLE SWITCHER nano power regulator is priced from $0.89 (USD) each in 1,000 unit quantities.
