DC/DC converter functions as decentralised power supply
Based on the well-established 150W converter series PCMDS150 for railway and industrial applications, MTM Power has designed the PCMDS150 350S24 DC/DC converter especially for generating control voltages from high voltage energy storages.
The wide input voltage range of 110-450VDC allows use as decentralised power supply for industrial DC mains, for generating control voltages from backup storages in wind energy plants or as an on-board converter for e-mobility applications.
Due to the comparability of the requirements of electrical equipment with those in railway applications - extended wide operating temperature range of -40 to +70°C, humidity, shock and vibration as well as transient voltages - the converter provides perfect characteristics for these applications.
The thermoselective vacuum encapsulation developed by MTM Power and patented (EP 1 987 708, U.S. Patent No. 8,821,778 B2) allows these special features. The complete enclosure of the electronics by potting material guarantees uniform heat dissipation, an excelling connection of all hotspots to heat sink or base plate as well as entire resistance against environmental influences such as shock, vibration and humidity.
The maintenance-free converter generates a controlled output power of 24 V (6,25 A), is permanently short-circuit protected and needs no ground load. Cooling is achieved by free convection. Depending on the requirement, versions with either integrated heat sink (PCMDS150 350S24UK) or base plate (PCMDS150 350S24U) to be mounted on a heat-dissipating surface are available. The devices are connected via rugged industrial connectors, optionally also available acc. to protection degree IP65.
