Torex Semiconductor have today announced a new 1.5A synchronous step-down DC/DC converter featuring a new HiSAT-COT (Constant On Time) control method. The HiSAT-COT control method, featured in the XC9260/61 series, provides less fluctuation in oscillation frequency against load and input voltage when compared to standard COT control.

The XC9260/61 utilises a 1.2MHz or 3.0MHz switching frequency. The XC9260 series offers PWM control, whereas the XC9261 series applies automatic PWM/PFM switching control, providing fast response, low ripple, low current consumption (15uA  typ.) and high efficiency over the full range of output loads (from light load to heavy load). The operating voltage range is from 2.7V to 5.5V and the output voltage is internally set in a range from 0.8V to 3.6V in increments of 0.05V. The operating ambient temperature range is -40°C ~ 105°C.

The series include a 0.3ms (typ.) high speed soft-start function for quick turn-on, a chip enable pin to turn the IC on and off and a CL discharge function to quickly discharge the output capacitor when the IC is turned off. A thermal shutdown circuit is also built in which shuts down the IC when the chip’s temperature reaches 150°C and re-starts it when the temperature drops to 120°C (TYP.) or less.

With a built-in UVLO function, the driver transistor is forced OFF when the input voltage becomes 2.0V or lower and will resume normal operation when the input voltage rises above this threshold.

The XC9260/61 is available in either a SOT-89-5 or a small USP-6C package measuring only 2.0mm x 1.8mm x 0.6mm.
