HiTek Power’s XRG70 is a 72W X-ray generator power supply module for grounded-cathode tubes that incorporates the high voltage and filament power supply stages and all necessary beam control circuitry. Measuring only 204 x 73 x 127mm, the new unit is the smallest in the market for its power capabilities. It is available with an optional interface to enable full control via RS232.
The XRG70 is supplied from a 24VDC rail and provides up to 60kV for the X-ray tube anode with a maximum current of 1.2mA. It also provides a low voltage output for the X-ray tube filament, with a current of up to 3.5A and a maximum voltage of 5.5V. High levels of remote control and monitoring meet the needs of modern X-ray systems to be controlled more finely and the growing need to protect ever-more-expensive tubes.

The new unit has been designed to offer the high stability and low ripple demanded by today’s applications. Ripple on the high voltage output is less than 0.05 per cent +10V peak-to-peak. Load regulation for voltage is less than 0.01 per cent ±1V from no load to full load, while for beam current it is less than ±2µA. Stability is ±0.1 per cent over an 8 hour period after 30 minutes warm-up.

Control and monitoring is via a 15-way D-type connector, front-panel potentiometers and an optional RS232C interface. It includes control of on/off, high voltage output, maximum and standby filament currents; and monitoring of high voltage output, and beam and filament currents.
