Bipolar transistors feature proven robustness to radiation
A range of Defense Logistics Agency-qualified JANSR bipolar transistors, suitable for aerospace and Hi-Rel systems, has been released by STMicroelectronics. The JANSR+ series, which has been added to the company's existing JANS / JANSR products, consists of 100krad JANSR high-dose-rate bipolar transistors with an additional 100krad low-dose-rate (100mrad/s) test performed on each wafer.
To demonstrate its technology's robustness to radiation effect, ST offer the series of transistors with data from very-low-dose-rate (10mrad/s) tests. The bipolar transistors also come with up-screening, reducing additional cost and lead time.
All parts of the transistors, which were released within the European Space Components Coordination program, are housed in advanced hermetic UB packages. The JANSR+ series, suitable for use with satellites, as well as nuclear physics and medical applications, is available in sample and volume quantities.
"ST has been providing rad-hard bipolar transistors to the European aerospace industry for over 35 years and our products have accumulated hundreds of millions of flying hours. With the DLA qualification, we are bringing to our US customers the unrivalled performances through the best-in-class radiation hardness achieved with our specifically adjusted aerospace technology and design." said Mario Aleo, Group VP and General Manager, Power Transistor Division, STMicroelectronics.
