AEG Power Solutions, a global provider of AC and DC power supply systems and solutions for all types of critical and demanding applications, has announced that it has been selected to provide AC UPS systems to secure the power supply for an important metro line in Northern Africa.

Thales has chosen AEG Power Solutions to provide the complete power supply solution, consisting of 38 Protect 8 S14 UPS systems which have a proven track record in securing power for railway applications in harsh environments. The systems are ranging from 60 to 100kVA and will be installed in a redundant setting to provide the highest power reliability. With an expected lifetime of at least 20 years, the Protect 8 is a robust and cost-effective solution optimised for minimal operating costs. Designed for demanding applications, the Protect 8 ensures safe operation of critical loads, delivering total control wherever reliability, availability, and maintainability are required.

AEG Power Solutions provided its power supply expertise to Thales during the technical project analysis and clarification, helping to finalise the project.

"Having started to build a relationship with AEG Power Solutions during the procurement process, we could see that they had the technical excellence and experience required," says Mr. Stefano Marmino, Thales, Ground Transportation Systems in Italia, Project Procurement Leader. "We were confident that AEG Power Solutions, like in the past, was the right choice to provide these mission-critical UPS systems".

"We are honoured that Thales has recognised our industrial product range to meet the requirements for a reliable power solution aligned with their technical specifications," says Alberto Dall'Asta, Managing Director of 3W Power S.p.A., the specialist subsidiary of AEG Power Solutions in this project.

The systems will be delivered in 2024.
