Advanced Energy has introduced the NCF150 series of high-isolation, low-leakage AC-DC power supplies. These new products are designed to help medical equipment manufacturers meet the stringent cardiac floating (CF) requirements of the IEC 60601-1 medical safety standard using off-the-shelf components.

Type CF is the highest level of medical electrical safety classification, critical for devices that may come into direct contact with the heart, such as dialysis machines, cardiac systems, and electrosurgical platforms. With the launch of the SL Power NCF150 series, Advanced Energy now offers standard, compact AC-DC power supplies that combine the reliability and performance required for sophisticated medical systems with the high isolation voltage and low leakage current necessary for CF certification.

“Until now, meeting the needs of the CF classification has required time-consuming and costly modification to traditional power supply,” said Shri Chandrasekharan, Senior Vice President, Medical Power ProductsAdvanced Energy. “Now, with the launch of the NCF150 series, Advanced Energy is helping medical OEMs reduce the system level components required for isolation, minimize overall system size and cost, and speed time-to-market.”

The SL NCF150 series provides up to 150W of output power, with available voltages of 12V, 15V, 19V, 24V, and 48V. It also offers optional 5V standby and 12V fan outputs. All models in the series feature a patient leakage current below 10 µA, EMI Class B compliance, 2 MOPP isolation, and can withstand defibrillator pulses up to 5kV.

The SL NCF150 power supplies support a universal input range of 85 to 264 VAC, offer over 90% efficiency at full load, and include built-in protection against overvoltage, overload, overtemperature, and short-circuit conditions. This initial release in the CF-rated family will soon be followed by higher power models.
