AC/DC power supply suits next-gen medical devices
Designed to address the power challenges of next-gen medical devices and industrial test equipment, the MINT1500 AC/DC power supply has been released by SL Power Electronics. The 500W device, which measures 83.82x177.80x38.10mm, can be configured horizontally or vertically. Featuring a universal AC input range of 90-270VAC and DC output range of 24-56V, the MINT1500 fits into 1U and a 2U chassis'.
The power supply provides 350W for convection cooling, or 500W with moving air. Approved to AAMI ES/CSA C22.2/EN/IEC60601-1, third edition, the device features 2x MOPP isolation. As standard, the MINT1500 is offered with a 12V/0.8A fan output, 5V standby voltage and input and output monitoring alarms.
AC and DC connections are located on opposite sides of the power supply, allowing the device to better meet the requirements of medical and industrial applications.
The MINT1500, which has an efficiency of 93%, reduces energy costs by providing a lower heat signature. The need for an external circuit is eliminated by the power supply’s forced current share, which provides a higher power architecture, reducing design and development costs.
Operating across a temperature range of -10 to +70°C, the device is offered with short circuit, overload and over-temperature protections. The RoHS compliant MINT1500, which is protected by a three-year warranty, meets stringent EMC requirements for applications requiring Class B conducted. Rated at 500,000 hours of calculated MTBF, the power supply is available now, priced at $280 each and sold in 250-unit quantities.
“The superior 350W convection performance, 93% efficiency and approval to IEC60601-1 3rd edition, EN60950 2nd edition standard make our MINT1500 the go-to internal power supply for medical devices as well as industrial applications such as test and measurement,” commented Maggie Nadjmi, Product Manager, SL Power Electronics. “In addition, the horizontal or vertical mounting gives designers a flexible approach to power and eliminates the need for a second model to meet a configuration challenge. Another benefit is that the MINT1500 offers current share for system redundancy or a path for higher power application all with only one SKU.”
