Stackpole Electronics has expanded its RNCV series of automotive-grade high voltage thin film chip resistors to include 10ppm and 15ppm TCR (Temperature Coefficient of Resistance) options. This enhancement meets growing industry demand for high-precision resistors in applications where voltage stability and accuracy are critical, such as voltage division, monitoring, and control circuits.

The RNCV series is specifically engineered for high-voltage applications, offering exceptional voltage coefficient of resistance (VCR) stability at less than ±1.5ppm per volt. This ensures minimal drift in performance over time, making the resistors ideal for precision circuitry in automotive, industrial, and medical applications.

Enhanced stability and reliability

The thin film technology used in the RNCV series provides outstanding electrical and environmental stability, making the resistors highly reliable under demanding operating conditions. They undergo rigorous industry-standard tests, including:

  • Load life testing: ensures long-term performance stability
  • Damp heat with load testing: evaluates resistance to humidity and temperature variations
  • Temperature cycling: confirms resilience against extreme temperature changes
  • Short time overload: tests durability under sudden voltage surges

Additionally, the resistor materials and structure offer excellent resistance to sulphur corrosion, an important factor for applications exposed to harsh environmental conditions.

Applications and availability

The high precision and stability of the RNCV series make it an excellent choice for:

  • High voltage power supplies
  • Voltage dividers
  • Medical equipment (e.g., patient monitoring, medical imaging, defibrillators)
  • Instrumentation and test systems

Stackpole offers a variety of size, tolerance, TCR, and resistance value options, with many popular combinations currently in stock. Pricing varies based on specifications.
