Rutronik has expanded its SMD capacitor product portfolio with KEMET's new “across the line” SMP255 capacitor series in safety class X2 and the optimised “line to ground” SMP253E series of RFI suppression capacitors (safety class Y2).

The capacitors impress with their vibration resistance in accordance with IEC 60068 2-6/2-27, their very long service life, a safe failure mode and their power stability. The capacitors achieve the highest safety standard by using epoxy-impregnated paper as a dielectric. In addition, excellent self-healing properties minimise the risk of short circuits, and the use of advanced materials also ensures maximum tightness and therefore particular stability against ionisation, corona effect, and partial discharge. Surface Mount Technology (SMT) enables reduced assembly time, saves space on the PCB and reduces parasitic effects typical of Through-Hole Technology (THT). The capacitors are lead-free and RoHS-compliant, as well as THB-tested and AEC-Q200-certified. This makes them ideal for applications in the automotive sector, such as in infotainment and comfort equipment or safety systems, but they are also ideal for use in the medical and industrial sectors.

SMP255 SMD X2 EMI

The components have a capacitance range of 10 nF to 150 nF at a nominal voltage of 310 VAC. They can withstand a pulse voltage of up to 1,200 V / μs as well as operating temperatures of up to 125 °C, and fulfil the requirements of the THB Class IIB test at 85 °C and 85 % humidity with 500 operating hours.

SMP253 SMD Y2 EMI

With the SMP253E capacitor series, KEMET has optimised the previous SMP253 series. The new series has a capacitance range of 1.0 nF to 4.7 nF at a rated voltage of 300 VAC, a recommended DC voltage of max. 1,500 VDC, and can withstand pulse voltages of up to 2.000 V / μs. The AEC-Q200 certification, the robustness especially under harsh conditions and its reliability and longevity make it the ideal component for applications in the automotive sector, but also for the industrial and medical sectors.
