Belden Expands Hirschmann RSP Switches With Addition Of RSP-Smart
Belden has added with the RSP-Smart, an inexpensive variant to the tried and tested family of RSP switches in its Hirschmann product range in the EMEA region. Like the other devices in the family, this managed switch is able to withstand electrostatic discharges, magnetic fields and strong vibrations.
It oAll ports support precise time synchronization compliant with IEEE 1588v2. Security mechanisms such as role-based access provide strong protection against network attacks. MRP and RSTP redundancy methods ensure high network availability. A switch version is also available which provides support for the PRP and HSR redundancy methods, ensuring zero “switchover time” and high system productivity. Due to its rugged construction, the RSP-Smart can also be used in challenging environments like those found in machine construction for example. The switch is also certified for applications in the electricity industry, transport or hazardous environments.
Mounted on DIN rails, the switch is compliant with the IP30 protection standard and has a stainless steel housing measuring 90 (98) x 164 x 120 mm (EEC) (width x height x depth). Its temperature range is from -40 °C to +70 °C. The power supply voltage may be either 24/36/48 VDC or 110/250 VDC and 110/230 VAC.
The RSP-Smart can be quickly activated by plug-and-play. Configuration and diagnostics can be carried out with HiDiscovery, IHV or via a web interface. An SD card can be used to store the configuration data and retrieve it whenever necessary, and also to upgrade or downgrade the operating software.
The switch status can be monitored locally using indicator contacts. Detailed information can be displayed via a standard web browser. The integrated SNMP interface offers an additional centralized management function that allows the deployment of network management software such as Industrial HiVision.
With the new RSP-Smart from its Hirschmann product program, Belden has developed a cost-effective Industrial Ethernet switch without compromising on performance. As Product Manager Jürgen Schmid says: This switch guarantees uninterrupted data communication even when faults occur, ensuring permanent access to applications. Power supply companies, for example, can continue providing electricity despite a lightning strike, and tunnel operators can be certain that smoke extraction systems will be activated in the event of fire.
