High voltage applications such as EV power frequently require high voltage resistors with high accuracy for voltage division, monitoring, and control.

EV power systems are frequently designed around 400V to 600V architectures with even higher voltage platforms in future development. Commercial and general purpose chip resistors typically will only be rated up to 200 or 300V and are therefore unsuitable for these applications. In addition, resistance stability over voltage, or VCR may become an issue as voltages increase, making viable options limited.

Stackpole’s RNCV series provides an automotive grade, high precision, high stability chip resistor with VCR less than +/- 1.5ppm per volt. The RNCV is available in resistance values from 160K to 3.01M, in tolerances as low as 0.1% and TCR as low as 25ppm. Thin film technology provides excellent electrical and environmental stability, with the RNCV having low resistance shifts under industry standard tests such as load life, damp heat with load, temperature cycling, and short time overload, and is anti-sulphur.

Pricing varies with size, tolerance, TCR, and resistance. Many popular size and resistance value combinations are currently in stock.
