Designed to safeguard industrial interfaces against transient voltage threats, Semtech has announced a 7-line surge-rated, 24V transient protection array. The μClamp2417P offers a 10A (8x20µs waveform) surge immunity level in a small 2.6x2.6mm QFN package and is suited to protect industrial data interfaces from electrical transient threats including ESD, EFT (Electrical Fast Transients) and lightning surge transients.

The 7-line μClamp2417P, with its excellent voltage clamping characteristics, delivers efficient transient protection for multi-line industrial data ports. The part’s high surge immunity makes it suitable for protecting ports from induced lightning threats and it also achieves a high level of immunity against fast rise-time ESD transients, allowing customers to achieve compliance in excess of the industry’s most stringent ESD immunity standards (IEC 61000-4-2).

Rick Hansen, Product Marketing Director, Protection Product Group, Semtech, commented: “With the explosion of IoT and emerging end nodes in industrial applications, an increasing number of industrial data circuits are exposed to highly destructive electrical transient threats. The μClamp2417P offers circuit designers a robust ESD and surge protection solution to safeguard data ports that operate in a harsh electrical environment.”

The μClamp2417P (order code: μClamp2417P.TCT) is available now in production quantities, priced at $0.52 each in 10,000 unit quantities. Semtech offers comprehensive design assistance, including field- and factory-based support. Volume pricing, delivery quotes, evaluation kits and samples are also available.
