Based on its aluminum RA-T2X-38E heatsink, Ohmite has produced its first Ceramic heatsink. The WC-T2X-38E is the first of several models planned for 2017 and is made from high purity ceramic which is gaining popularity with engineers as the solution to many thermal management requirements.

Designed with cooling of higher voltage TO-type active devices in mind, where the presence of conventional aluminum heatsinks creates design challenges, the WC-T2X-38E provides thermal properties while being non-conductive.

Aluminum heatsinks can also give off unwanted electromagnetic radiation in some circuits, and often involve tapped holes which can have tiny, hard to detect, sharp burrs, which can penetrate thin insulator materials and allow voltage to creep from the device into the heatsink.

Like their RA-T2X-38E aluminum heatsink, the WC-T2X-38E doesn’t require holes as the (patent pending) Camming Clip secures the device in place, putting mechanical pressure on the central part of the device body, where it is best applied for thermal efficiency.
