Murata capacitor designed for high voltage industrial applications
Murata has announced the DE1 Type RB series of X1 class leaded ceramic safety capacitors. Suitable for use in high voltage industrial applications such as 3-phase power supplies or inverters driving 3-phase motors, the series is rated at 760VAC (RMS) for X1 class use. The DE1 complies with the internationally recognised standards IEC 60384-14, UL60384-14 and EN60384-14 for X1 / Y1 class capacitors used in EMI suppression circuits.
Dielectric boosts stability of organic thin-film transistors
A nanostructured gate dielectric may have addressed the most significant obstacle to expanding the use of organic semiconductors for thin-film transistors. The structure, composed of a fluoropolymer layer followed by a nanolaminate made from two metal oxide materials, serves as gate dielectric and simultaneously protects the organic semiconductor – which had previously been vulnerable to damage from the ambient environment – and enabl...
Resistors offer excellent surge performance
The HPWC (high pulse withstanding chip) range of high energy surge resistor products has been announced by TT Electronics. The high pulse resistors are designed to maximise the level of surge performance available in a single-sided flat chip design. The HPWC range is ideal for protection and discharge applications in compact power supplies and power control circuits where a resistance tolerance of 5% is required.
Thyristors provide enhanced surge protection in exposure environments
Littelfuse has introduced two series of SIDACtor protection thyristors optimised to protect equipment located in high exposure environments from severe overvoltage transients. The Pxxx0MEL 5kA series and Pxxx0FNL 3kA series SIDACtor protection thyristors offer enhanced reliability through multiple high energy surge events.
Blocking capacitors designed for MMIC circuits RF bypassing
With a large in-house portfolio of dielectric materials, custom engineered solutions are now available for customer (specification) needs. Circuit designers and engineers tend to turn to a pair of the company's cataloged products, Bar Cap and Gap Cap for decoupling, RF bypassing and DC blocking applications.
Resistance values drive capacitors to automotive applications
The EEH-ZA and EEH-ZC series of hybrid capacitors from Panasonic Automotive & Industrial Systems Europe are available at Conrad Business Supplies. These capacitors combine the advantages of electrolytic capacitors with those made of solid polymer. Their resistance against high temperature and vibration makes them ideal for use in specified automotive and industrial applications.
The importance of robust overcurrent protection
In applications such as uninterruptible power supplies, HVAC, smart meters, power inverters, and three phase AC/DC power supplies, high voltage AC power lines require robust overcurrent protection - the kind that high voltage AC fuses can deliver. Circuit designers now have a new, compact, fast-acting option for these applications.
High voltage axial leaded resistors suitable for aerospace
The HVAM series of high voltage axial leaded resistors has been released by Stackpole Electronics. The HVAM deposition technology produces a non-inductive resistive element with high stability, low noise and high voltage ratings. Precision tolerances are available down to 0.1% with TCR as low as 50ppm.
Ga-doped Ge source/drain contacts achieve low contact resistivity
At the International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM), imec reported ultralow contact resistivity of 5x10-10Ωcm2 on Gallium (Ga)-doped p-Germanium (Ge) source/drain contacts. The low contact resistivity and high level of Ga activation were achieved after nanosecond laser activation (NLA) at low thermal budget. The results show that highly Ga-doped Ge-rich source/drain contacts provide a promising route for suppressing parasitic source/drain resi...
Heterogeneous sequential for advanced CMOS nodes
At the 2017 International Electron Devices Meeting (IEDM), imec, research and innovation hub in nano-electronics and digital technology, presented the first Power-Performance-Area-Cost (PPAC) analysis of different sequential 3D-integration variants using advanced 5nm and 3nm CMOS technology nodes.
