By introducing new, high temperature materials in the manufacture of their resistors, Ohmite is able to supply a new 4 watt resistor in what is close to a 3 watt package size. The resistor manufacturer argues that since most design engineers derate their components by as much as 50% to increase circuit reliability, the new 14AFR will allow for a smaller package size than existing products.

Murata now offers its low DC resistance, high rated current wire-wound chip inductors in low profile 1515-size packaging (4.0 x 4.0 x 1.65mm), designed to save space and increase efficiency in DC-DC converter designs.

Murata's GJ8 series of multi-layer ceramic chip capacitors (MLCCs) has been specifically developed to reduce acoustic noise in consumer and industrial electronics applications. KOA has expanded its RN73H series of high precision thin film flat chip resistors with size 0402 and higher ohmic values in all other sizes. The RN73H series provides excellent long term stability, typically below 0.05% resistance change over 1000 hours. The typical resistance change due to soldering heat is below 0.01%.
