4.5V-20V Load Switches are perfect for Circuit Protection and Power Management Designs
Fairchild Semiconductor has announced the FPF250X series, a new family of its IntelliMAX devices with input voltages ranging from 4.5 up to 20V. These highly integrated load switches provide full protection against potentially damaging overcurrent conditions affecting low-power designs including industrial, telecom, medical, notebook and consumer applications. The FPF250X devices simplify design, reduce component count and minimize board space by integrating a 0.23 Ohm current-limited N-channel MOSFET with protection and control features such as thermal shutdown, controlled turn-on and undervoltage lockout, into a space-saving SOT-23 package. Available in either adjustable or fixed current-limiting options, the FPF250X series offer design flexibility while minimizing circuit tuning and troubleshooting, accelerating time to market in numerous power management and circuit protection applications.
“FKey benefits of the FPF250X family include:
—4.5 to 20V input voltage range: targets a wide range of low-voltage applications.
—Adjustable and fixed current limiting options: 0.5A to 2A adjustable minimum current limit and 0.4A or 0.8A fixed current limit options minimize design tuning and troubleshooting time.
—Thermal shutdown: prevents damage due to excessive heat; simplifies design and reduces board space by eliminating external circuitry.
—Controlled turn-on: reduces in-rush current and supply transients during switch turn-on.
—Lead-free SOT-23 package: minimizes board space.
The FPF250X series expands the industry’s broadest portfolio of load switch solutions. Fairchild’s IntelliMAX products offer a unique combination of protection and control features that reduce board space, component count and design complexity in power management designs.
