USB3 board camera offers high level of light sensitivity

With a resolution of 5MP and USB 3.0 Vision interface, Videology has launched its new camera module 24B5.0XUSB3. The module is the first in a series of cameras designed to work with the image processing firmware developed in-house by Videology. OEMs and developers can incorporate individual IPs on the FPGA or use customer-specific adaptations. The compact board camera is available from FRAMOS.

The 24B5.0XUSB3 camera is equipped with a 1/2.5" CMOS image sensor with rolling shutter and offers what the company claims to be a particularly high level of light sensitivity into the near-infrared range. The frame rate reaches 14fps at full resolution (2,592x1,944V), and up to 120fps are possible with VGA resolution. In addition to the USB3 output, the model comes with a parallel BT.1120 (10-bit) video output. This means a connection is available for external video processing or analysis, allowing the USB and BT.1120 connections to be used simultaneously.

Björn Krasemann, Head of Sales and camera expert at FRAMOS explained: “Videology focuses on the miniaturisation of cameras and modules for easy integration into embedded systems and OEM solutions. The individually programmable 24B5.0XUSB3 module has a compact shape and is available in a monochrome version; a colour version is set to be launched in the near future.”

At 32x32mm, the double board comes in a small and thus easy-to-integrate design. The inputs and outputs are configurable, the 24B5.0XUSB3 is DirectX, DirectShow and UVC-compliant as well as compatible with Windows (7, 8 and 10) and Linux platforms. A complete SDK is available.
