Micron Optics Introduces New Optical Sensing Module for Ultra-high Speed Applications
Micron Optics, Inc. is proud to announce the sm690, a new ultra-high speed, high resolution data acquisition module capable of simultaneously measuring up to four Fiber Bragg Gratings (FBGs) at a 2MHz sampling frequency, a rate which is currently unparalleled in the optical sensing industry.
HighIn 2005, Micron Optics released a prototype vibration mode analyzer and expected to provide only a few units to various research industries. It did not take long for users to realize its advantages, and the analyzer became widely popular with scientists and engineers around the world for a variety of applications such as measuring the destructive shock wave of large explosions or the propagation of sonic energy in composite panels used in aerospace vehicles. An opportunity arose to continue the innovation of an ultra-high speed optical sensing module, and so Micron Optics introduced the sm690 as an answer to this high demand in various industries.
The sm690 is engineered with a design featuring an all-new data acquisition architecture and high performance optical wavelength discriminatory components. This advancement allows for the best combination of resolution and speed with a scan rate 20 times faster than its predecessor. Also, those familiar with National Instruments will be interested to learn the sm690 module is fully compliant with the IEEE standard PXIe platform and can be easily integrated with LabVIEW™.
