Light levels can be controlled and scheduled as required, using the smart Silk LED light bulb and Silk Light app, from Saffron. The Silk light system uses exisiting light switches. With one click of the light switch, the bulb just comes on like a normal light; two clicks of the switch dim the light; and with three clicks a boost of energising boost. This is Saffron's nClick technology.

The system was developed following research in to 'circadian rhythm' where by humans responds to different light levels, for example warm light promotes rest and relaxation, whereas cool light energises and invigorates.

There is two options to the light bulb, one with an app and one with pre-programmed nClick functions. The Silk Light App gives users flexibility, allowing the light to be changed in zones, the light to be scheduled, using WiFi. The app allows the user to control the brightness, colour temperature and the time period of the bulbs, as well as changing the nClick settings.

The app allows users to set up schedules so that the light can wake them up automatically with energising cool white light at a schedule time or set a schedule so they get bright, energising light when they are working. Alternatively, lights can be dimmed at night to 'wind' down.
