New high-current LED from OSRAM boosts brightness for small projectors with no increase in size
The new OSTAR Compact LED from OSRAM Opto Semiconductors is characterized by improved high-current capability and lower thermal resistance for more light output. It can handle up to 6A in pulsed mode, making it ideal for pico and pocket projectors for small mobile terminals.
The The enhanced performance of the high-power OSTAR Compact LED is achieved with a 2 mm² chip that benefits from improved epitaxial processes and a more even power distribution. “This has enabled us to design the OSTAR Compact LED for even higher current handling capacity,” said Wolfgang Schnabel, Marketing Manager, Projection, at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors. “The new version offers higher luminous power for smaller projector designs. The OSTAR Compact is small, but delivers increased brightness with its advanced thermal management design.”
The new LED with the higher current capability extends the portfolio of OSTAR Compact LEDs for projection applications. The OSTAR portfolio includes LEDs with chips having sizes of 750 µm x 750 µm and 1 mm x 1 mm available in all colors.
