MKS announces solutions for analytical instruments
MKS Instruments has announced Newport Custom & OEM Optical Subsystem Solutions for analytical instruments.
These new services from Newport OCB (Optical Component Business) integrate Newport’s capabilities in optomechanical design and optical component design and manufacturing.
The services provide OEMs of analytical instruments and spectrally-based diagnostic equipment with state-of-the-art optics; a simplified and tightly-managed supply chain, from prototype to production; access to a global assembly network; and support for the entire lifecycle of the products. The integration of precision design, engineering, and manufacturing services allows the delivery of continuous or discrete spectral analysis systems for a variety of OEM instrumentation applications, including semiconductor, life & health sciences, and industrial analysis.
"Most optics companies specialise in either optomechanical design or in producing a single type of optical component," said Dan Lawrence, General Manager, Newport OCB. "Newport, with over 75 years of experience, excels at the design and production of optomechanical assemblies as well as a broad range of optical components. Those capabilities provide a strategic advantage to vertically integrate critical optical components while engineering and optimising the most demanding optical sub-assemblies to deliver system performance for OEMs. Newport's global manufacturing footprint enables ease of integration by Richardson Gratings; high-performance mirrors and optical filters; precision optical mounts; and motion control systems leveraging an extensive catalogue portfolio in addition to custom-engineered capabilities."
Designed to optimise optical system performance, Newport Custom & OEM Subsystem Solutions services include:
- OEM optics: Includes precision diffraction gratings, high-performance optical filters (from UV to NIR), precision optical components, replicated mirrors, thin film coating capabilities to optimise system performance, and advanced metrology and testing.
- Optical, optomechanical, electrical, and systems design: Collaborative engagement with customers to develop custom designs. Optimisation for manufacturability of end-to-end sub-assembly design and system performance.
- Manufacturing, assembly and test: Component fabrication and sourcing; precision assembly and test at our facilities in the US or around the world; controlled clean room assembly (ISO-5/100, ISO-6/1,000); supply chain risk mitigation at the component and assembly level; and US-based ISO registered facilities with ITAR and IP control.
