LEDs offered in five configurations to meet application needs

“The LED retrofit bulb and other application segments are taking off right now. We decided to optimise for each application requirement via different offerings within the LUXEON 2835 line,” explained Matthew Everett, Senior Director, Mid Power Products, Lumileds.

To cater to the market, the LUXEON 2835 is offered in two light output ranges: LUXEON 2835C for higher efficacy and an industry-leading 240mA maximum drive current with 3 and 6V options; and LUXEON 2835E for the most cost-effective retrofit lamp designs with 6 and 9V options.

Makers of low cost retrofit bulbs targeting soft white (2700K, 80CRI) will benefit from the LUXEON 2835E 9V, which produces 72 lumens at 134lm/W when driven at 60mA. For entry level bulbs, a lighting manufacturer might choose the LUXEON 2835E 6V, which produces 49 lumens with the same efficacy. Dimmable bulbs, LED candles and downlight manufacturers might choose the LUXEON 2835C 6V, which produces 103 lumens at 138lm/W in 2700K and 80CRI when driven at 120mA. A key advantage of all LUXEON 2835 LEDs is their ability to be driven at double these reference drive currents to achieve even higher flux and use fewer LEDs per bulb.

For designers of mid-range troffers, linear fixtures and downlights, the LUXEON 2835C 3V is available in two versions, one with a TVS (Zener) and one without. The 2835C 3V LED without TVS produces 58 lumens at 156lm/W in 4000K and 80CRI when driven at 120mA.

The LUXEON 2835 line is offered across a CCT range or 2700 to 6500K at 70 and 80CRI. All LUXEON 2835 6 & 9V LEDs are hot-colour targeted to ensure the colour remains within ANSI bin specifications at typical application conditions. Micro colour binning allows customers to easily create 3, 4 or 5 step MacAdam Ellipse kits.
