Illuminar Technologies is launching its compact, robust and super accurate Predator DSP-controlled desktop laser marking system at this year’s Laser World of Photonics exhibition. The brand new Predator series incorporates Illuminar’s advanced, proprietary digital signal processor (DSP) based laser control system and a high-quality laser source, all in an attractive and durable enclosure with a small footprint.
The Predator laser marking system is an ideal solution for prototype and low to medium-volume production component marking in industries from automotive, electronics and aerospace to agriculture.

The digital control technology at the heart of the Predator Series allows the system to deliver class-leading speed and accuracy with the added benefit of continual self-calibration to ensure consistent results even in demanding marking applications over a long service life.

Predator units are available with a range of laser sources and with powers from 10 to 30W to suit the broadest possible set of substrates and marking applications. The open-framed Predator OP20 unit on display at the exhibition, for example includes a 20W fibre laser which is ideal for a range of plastic and metal surface marking tasks.

Illuminar also offers a range of enclosed, standalone machines, robotic or conveyor-based part handling options and integrated machine vision technology; as well as component-based systems suitable for direct integration into customers’ own production machines.

All Predator machines are designed at the company’s headquarters in Letchworth, UK combining market leading componentry and expert assembly in order to meet, or exceed all relevant international quality standards. Customers also benefit from Illuminar’s extensive application engineering expertise and comprehensive after-sales support.

“We’ve designed the Predator system so that our customers can concentrate on manufacturing components, not worrying about consistent, high-quality marking,” says Howard Moore, Commercial Director at Illuminar Technologies. “The digital unit recalibrates itself every time you turn it on, so it retains the accuracy, speed and repeatability it delivered on its first day, without the need for adjustment. Our design also allows us to offer a surprisingly cost-effective solution, making the Predator a great option for customers who might otherwise outsource their marking requirements.”

At Laser World of Photonics, Howard Moore will be joined by Illuminar co-founder and Technical Director John Larsen, and they will both be available in Hall B1, Booth 530, to demonstrate the Predator system and to answer questions on Illuminar’s full range of laser marking, cutting and welding technologies
