680nm VCSELs from LASER COMPONENTS
LASER COMPONENTS has announced its range of VCSELs for a variety of applications.
Vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSELs) are an excellent solution for cost sensitive applications that require a tight linewidth and good efficiency.
There are many advantages to a VCSEL over a conventional edge emitting diode. The emission from a VCSEL is vertical, perpendicular to the top surface. For this reason, VCSELs can be tested and characterised during production, allowing for a more controlled process and higher yield. Additionally, VCSELs can be processed in higher densities on semiconductor wafers, further improving yield. These factors result in superior performance versus cost.
VCSELs are typically formed on Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) substrates with emission in the NIR spectrum. However, due to advancements in quantum well engineering, LASER COMPONENTS are delighted to announce we can now offer visible VCSELs at 680nm wavelength.
This visible wavelength is well suited to applications such as light therapy, industrial sensing, medical sensing and laser printing.
LASER COMPONENTS also offers a quick and easy VCSEL finder on its website.
