Digital Potentiometer available in Ultra-Small 2 x 2.5mm TDFN Package
Catalyst Semiconductor offers its CAT5114 Digitally Programmable Potentiometer in an 8-lead 2 x 2.5mm TDFN package, making it the world’s smallest non-volatile digital potentiometer. This tiny form factor helps designers further compress board space in today’s ever-shrinking portable products which currently use digital potentiometers in larger packages.
The The CAT5114 digital potentiometer is a pin-for-pin replacement for Intersil’s X9315, but offers the added choice of the very small 2 x 2.5 TDFN package. The CAT5114 is also functionally equivalent to Intersil’s X93154 50kΩ digital potentiometer, with additional 10kΩ and 100 kΩ end-to-end resistance values and a wider supply voltage range (2.5V to 6V).
The tiny CAT5114 is a 32-tap digital potentiometer featuring a user-friendly up/down control interface and non-volatile memory, which retains the wiper setting on system power-down and reinstates the setting when power is returned. The wiper can be adjusted to test new system values without affecting the stored setting.
