Mixed Signal/Analog
Engineering centre expands analogue design capabilities
With the opening of a new engineering centre in Hyderabad, India, Thalia Design Automation has announced a significant expansion of its analogue design engineering capabilities. The new facility will initially be staffed by five experienced analogue designers and EDA (electronic design automation) development engineers. Based on current levels of customer demand, Thalia expects to grow this number to 25 within 12 to 18 months.
Configurable mixed signal ICs feature in-system programming
Provider of highly integrated power management, AC/DC power conversion, charging and Bluetooth Low energy technology, Dialog Semiconductor has launched the GreenPAK SLG46824 and SLG46826, its first Configurable Mixed-signal ICs (CMICs) following the acquisition of Silego Technology, the pioneer and market leader of CMICs.
Analogue IC market to grow strongly in next five years
According to IC Insights’ new 2018 McClean Report, which becomes available this month, sales of analogue ICs are expected to show the strongest growth rate among major integrated circuit market categories during the next five years. The McClean Report forecasts that revenues for analogue products - including both general purpose and application-specific devices - will increase by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.6% t...
Spectrum analyser measures analogue and digital signals
An economical USB RF tool that plugs into the USB port of a PC and is controlled with the provided PC application software has been announced by Saelig. The Triarchy Techologies VSA6G2A Vector Spectrum Analyser offers almost all of the functionality of a benchtop spectrum analyser. Its frequency range of operation is from 100Hz to 6.2GHz, with an amplitude measurement range of -140 to 24dBm. The RBW (resolution bandwidth) range is from 0.2Hz to 1...
Dialog Semiconductor accelerates revenue growth with acquisition
Dialog Semiconductor has announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire privately-held Silego Technology, for a cash payment of $276m with additional contingent consideration of up to $30.4m.

Synopsys and Helic together deliver analogue and RF custom design flow
Synopsys and Helic has announced that the companies have collaborated to integrate Helic's VeloceRF RF device synthesis, RaptorX EM modeling and Exalto EM parasitic extraction and signoff tools with Synopsys' Custom Design Platform. The result of the collaboration is a complete solution for electromagnetic-aware (EM-aware) layout and analysis of mixed-signal, analogue, and RF designs.
The need for broadband in rural areas need to be addressed
GlobalData believe that UK residents and businesses located in rural areas should push for improved access to ultrafast broadband (with connectivity at 300 Mbps and above) and 5G services. One of the primary inhibitors to economic growth in the UK is the shortage of internet access services and lack of ultrafast broadband. It is also increasingly harder for consumers and businesses in rural areas to keep up with their urban neighbours.
