250MS/S dual DAC is suitable for high energy physics
Compliant to the MicroTCA.4 specification for high energy physics applications, a dual DAC offering 250MS/S at 16-bit resolution has been announced by VadaTech. The AMC523 comes in a double module, mid-size (full-size is optional) and routes x8 or dual x4 PCIe to the backplane. A Kintex-7 FPGA with 2GB of DDR3 memory enables large buffer sizes to be storing during processing and queueing data to the host.
The dual DAC module connects with its corresponding Rear Transition Module (RTM) per MicroTCA.4, VadaTech’s MRT523. The AMC523 routes 12 channels of ADC signals that originate from the MRT523 via the RTM to the FPGA. The front panel of the AMC523 also has quad SFP+, one JTAG and CLK/Trig ports.
VadaTech has also introduced the AMC525 dual FPGA Mezzanine Card. This device features a Xilinx 690T Virtex-7 FPGA and an on-board QorIQ P2040 processor, the quad core of which allows the FPGA to act as an independent host, as well as for distributed processing.
