ABLIC introduces S-19954/5 Series
ABLIC has launched the S-19954/5 Series, a new line of automotive step-down switching regulators. These regulators operate at 5.5V with a 1A output and are noted for being housed in the smallest package in the industry, measuring just 1.6 x 1.6 x t0.41mm (HSNT-8(1616)B package).
As automotive technology advances, especially in the realms of Connected, Autonomous, Shared & Services and Electrification, the demand for high-resolution cameras in ADAS Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and Autonomous Driving Systems has surged. However, these high-resolution image sensors consume more current, leading to increased heat generation when using conventional LDO regulators. The S-19954/5 Series, with its efficient power conversion, addresses this heat issue.
Remarkably, this series requires fewer external components compared to traditional switching regulators. It integrates a feedback resistance circuit and a phase compensation circuit for setting output voltage, enabling the construction of application circuits with just a small coil and two capacitors. This integration results in a 45% reduction in mounting area compared to conventional products, aiding in the miniaturisation of camera modules.
Additionally, the S-19954/5 Series boasts a power good function for monitoring the output voltage, enhancing system safety by flagging any deviations from the norm. It is also PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) capable and adheres to the AEC-Q100 quality standard for automotive ICs.
Key Features of the S-19954/5 Series include:
- Ultra-compact packaging, leading to the smallest mounting area in the industry.
- Integrated overcurrent and thermal shutdown circuits, complemented by a power good function for improved safety.
- High efficiency, placing it among the top performers in the industry.
- Option for either PWM or PWM/PFM control.
