The era of intelligent IoT is just around the corner. As 3D NAND Flash memory cements itself as a core part of this technology suite, PCIe and NVMe are becoming dominant due to their rapid, reliable transmission speeds. SSDs with these ports are rapidly going mainstream.
With an innate understanding of market demands and trends, Apacer has devoted more resources to PCIe SSD production, and has now announced the introduction of an industrial-grade PCIe NVMe Gen3 SSD series. Equipped with a powerful PCIe controller and based on 64-layer 3D TLC technology, it conforms precisely to the NVMe specification.
That means high performance when it comes to data transmission and 4K random read/write operations. In fact, Apacer’s engineers have documented 4K random read/write performance and continuous read /write speeds up to 345,000/172,000 IOPS and 2,660/2,260 MB/sec, respectively. Like many industrial-grade Apacer solutions, it is available with a wide temperature range option, allowing it to tolerate temperature between -40 to +85°C.
Apacer's PCIe NVMe Gen3 series products are augmented with advanced LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) ECC engines and DataRAID, providing data error correction and backup mechanisms to ensure the correctness and accuracy of data transmission.
In addition, they are equipped with end-to-end data protection, an instant error detecting and correcting mechanism to ensure the integrity and correctness of data between the host and NAND storage areas during high-speed data transmission. This also greatly improves data reliability.
More and more, industrial-grade customers are seeking out storage products with built-in technologies that can extend a drive’s operational lifetime. With Apacer's over-provisioning technology, seven percent or more of storage space is reserved to efficiently manage and execute the internal resources required for healthy NAND operation.
These include garbage collection, wear-levelling, and bad block management, and can effectively reduce write amplification and extend the life of an SSD. In addition, 4K random performance and background processing performance can be significantly increased thanks to over-provisioning, which is sure to please customers who rely on heavy read/write operation.
Industrial-grade devices also need to be adaptable enough to survive in challenging temperatures. Over the years, Apacer has dedicated significant resources to creating thermal management systems for industrial-grade SSDs. Thermal throttling is good for preventing damage to components and data, but has the associated drawback of reducing processing speed.
With this in mind, Apacer developed a new technology called CoreGlacier. This delivers exceptional heat dissipation and cools both the NAND Flash memory and the IC controller, allowing high-speed devices to maintain their exceptional processing speeds with no reduction in performance. The CoreGlacier technology is currently only standard on wide-temperature versions of this product.
