Swissbit announces world’s first 1GB & 2GB DDR3 RS-UDIMM Rugged Small Outline Memory Module
Swissbit is proud to announce world’s first DDR3 RS-UDIMM (Rugged Small Outline unbuffered ECC DIMM): This small form factor (38 x 67.5mm) memory module has been developed with special focus on rugged industrial and embedded system for tough environmental conditions requiring exceptional resistance to shock and vibration.
SwisThe module connection between RS-UDIMM and system board is implemented by a 240-pin mezzanine connector which has been specially designed for use in rugged environment. Mounting holes and optional fixtures secure the module against shock and vibration.
The 72bit wide module data interface provides ECC (Error Detection and Correction) support to aid in the correction of single bit errors potentially caused by electrical or magnetic interference and/or background radiation.
Swissbit offers the RS-UDIMM in densities of 1GB and 2GB, both in commercial temperature grade 0°C to +85°C (TCase) as well as industrial temperature grade -40°C to +95°C (TCase), allowing for further flexibility in operating environment where cooling resources may be limited.
The small outline of 38 x 67.5mm and the standoff of 5mm together with a 72bit SODIMM compatible pin-out and electrical specification allow easy design-in following 72bit SODIMM guidelines.
The RS-UDIMM concept and specification has been jointly defined and developed by a group of manufacturers of system boards and memory modules working together in the „Small Form Factor Special Interest Group SFF-SIG“ (www.sff-sig.org). By creating a widely accepted standard it is guaranteed that all major requirements for a rugged memory system are met and that multiple sources of the RS-UIMM are available.
