Kingston Digital Launches Cost Effective SSD Solution for Embedded and General Non-PC Systems
Kingston Digital Europe Ltd announced the launch of its Kingston SSDNow S100 solid state drive (SSD) range. The new Kingston S100 range provides the general non-PC and embedded systems markets with a cost effective and easy to deploy platform. Unlike hard disk drive (HDD) solutions, the S100 drives deliver 24/7 reliability in the toughest operating environments, while improving the overall performance of computerised equipments.
The With no moving parts, SSDs can withstand intense shock and heat making this technology a viable alternative for limited power and cooling environments.
“Traditional hard disks with spinning platters have long been prone to failure due to their mechanical nature and susceptibility to heat. SSDs are a great way to improve reliability and longevity by acting as a drop in replacement, and their relevance has increased as the initial high prices have dropped with increasing shipments”, said Andrew Buss, Service Director at Freeform Dynamics.
“Customers have highlighted the ongoing challenges of HDD failure rates and compatibility issues with SD memory cards”, said Jim Selby, Manager – European Product Marketing, Kingston Digital Europe. “Extending SSD technology into these industrial and embedded environments, not only addresses these challenges, but offers the opportunity to realise strong ROI.”
With a 2.5'' form factor, the new Kingston SSDNow S100 is available in 8GB and 16GB capacities.
