Localised device intelligence combined with open EEBUS standard

For instance, with the 'Lemonbeat smart Device Language' (LsDL), devices can interact with one another independently of any central control. This makes IoT installations more reliable. Only relevant data, such as data required for monitoring and analysis purposes, are forwarded centrally, for instance to the Cloud. One of its special features is the patented, energy-saving sub-GHz radio technology 'Lemonbeat Radio'. It makes high bandwidths possible at wider ranges, is securely encrypted and is suitable for applications in local networks where conventional standards reach their limits. The first areas of application are in the areas of smart home, smart garden and also, due to Lemonbeat’s cooperation with Phoenix Contact, in the area of automation of commercial buildings. One further area of application is smart metering.

EEBUS brings together significant players in the energy, telecommunications, electronics and automotive industries. Together with members, the initiative is developing the open EEBUS standard, which is particularly well suited to equipment communication for the purpose of efficient energy usage. EEBus cooperates with other leading associations such as the Open Interconnect Consortium (OIC) and the Thread Group.

The SPINE technology concept developed by EEBUS (Smart Premises Interoperable Neutral-message Exchange) makes communication between the solutions offered by various different operators in the industry possible. SPINE is technology-neutral, similarly to LsDL, and is based on the mark-up language XML. Both solutions use internet standards such as TCP/IP or UDP. This means that in principle all physical transmission platforms which support these standards are possible.
