Crystal timing devices eye automotive applications
TTI is stocking Murata’s new line-up additions to its XRC family of crystal timing devices in Europe. Specifically designed for automotive applications, the new products are approximately 40% smaller than the industry norm and measure just 2.5mm x 2.0mm. Despite the small package, the ESR is 3 -50% lower than that of similar devices currently available on the market.
XRC series components are available with nominal frequencies in the range of 12 – 24 MHz and provide a highly accurate high quality clock that is required for automotive electronic control units (ECUs).
Typically used for in-vehicle networks such as CAN and FlexRay, XRC series devices incorporate a crystal element within a ceramic resonator package structure.
The frequency tolerance is typically +/- 100pm at 25°C and the operating temperature range is –40°C up to +125°C. The new timing devices have been developed in conjunction with Murata’s new wholly owned subsidiary TEW.
