IQD surface mount military oscillators withstand 100,000g shock

IQD today introduce a new series of surface mount oscillators, the HGXO series. Although designed for military applications such as smart munitions and projectile electronics, the HGXO series are also suited for demanding industrial applications. Able to survive shock levels of up to 100,000G, the new oscillators are designed around a hermetically sealed high-shock crystal and a CMOS compatible integrated circuit.

Housed in an industry standard 7 x 5mm 4-pad ceramic package with metal lid, the HGXO series oscillators can withstand vibration levels of 20g at 10-2000Hz swept sine in accordance with MIL-STD-202G.

Compatible with the latest generation of low power chipsets, the oscillators are available in 5 supply voltage versions (5.0V, 3.3V, 3.0V, 2.5V and 1.8V). Frequency stability can be specified at ±40ppm over the full military temperature range of -55 to 125°C, down to ±10ppm over commercial temperature ranges.

Output frequencies for the HGXO series can be specified between 460kHz and 50MHz with a 15pF HCMOS drive capability, while frequency tolerance is available down to ±10ppm.

Variants incorporating enable/disable and tri-state control are also available. While RoHs compliant finishes are available for less sensitive applications, the HGXO series can be specified with a number of termination finishes including tin/lead where to use a device that is RoHs compliant would cause approval issues.

Duty cycle is between 40% and 60% with a maximum start-up time of 5ms and a rise and fall time of 6ns max. Packaging options include tray pack or tape and reel.
