FPGA image signal pipeline debuts at Computex Taipei
An invitation to Computex Taipei will enable Spectral Edge, an image processing IP company based in Cambridge UK, to present its newly launched ISP (Image Signal Pipeline). Powered by Spectral Edge Fusion technology, ‘SE Fusion,’ it has been developed for the security, automotive and consumer markets.
System-on-Module opens broad access to FPGA technology
With the FPGA-based System-on-Module (SoM) ‘SpiderSoM’, ARIES Embedded, specialist for embedded services and products, has presented a basic module for getting started with FPGA programming. Similar to its industrial upgrade MX10, the SpiderSoM is a programmable, non-volatile board based on the Intel MAX10 FPGAs.
FPGA enhances security with hardware root-of-trust capabilities
Lattice Semiconductor has announced the MachXO3D FPGA for securing systems against a variety of threats. Unsecured systems can lead to data and design theft, product cloning and overbuilding, and device tampering or hijacking. With MachXO3D, OEMs can simplify the implementation of robust, comprehensive and flexible hardware-based security for all system components.
FPGAs use AI for soft switching
AI can be used to implement soft switching and minimise power conversion switching losses, argue Derek Kroes and Bruce Renouard, Pre-Switch
High CNN performance per watt in a midrange programmable device
Immediate availability of a new Convolutional Neural Network has been announced by Omnitek, delivering high performance per watt at full FP32 accuracy in a midrange SoC FPGA. Optimised for the Intel Arria 10 GX architecture, the Omnitek Deep Learning Processing Unit (DPU) achieves 135 GOPS/W at full 32-bit floating point accuracy when running the VGG-16 CNN in an Arria 10 GX 1150.
FPGA transceiver to enable 400G Ethernet deployment
The Intel Stratix 10 TX FPGAs are according to the company, the world’s first field programmable gate array with 58Gbps PAM4 transceiver technology enabling 400Gb Ethernet deployment. This technology doubles transceiver bandwidth performance when compared to traditional solutions.
Data-centric world with new 10nm Intel Agilex FPGA family
Intel announced a brand-new product family, the Intel Agilex FPGA. This new family of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA) will provide customised solutions to address the unique data-centric business challenges across embedded, network and data centre markets.
Highly optimised 3D LUT IP for FPGAs
Specialist in FPGA IP, Omnitek, has announced immediate availability of a unique 3D LUT for colour space conversions and conversion between nonlinear gamuts. This is a critical function in high-demand applications such as Rec. 709/2020 and SDR/HDR conversions, chroma keying and artistic effects such as sepia, black-and-white or vivid colour.
Collaboration strengthens position in FPGA acceleration market
It has been announced by BittWare, a Molex company, and Nallatech that they have combined efforts to provide a portfolio of FPGA acceleration solutions. Both known within the industry for their wide breadth of in-house FPGA board, subsystem and software expertise, Molex acquired BittWare and Nallatech as an important part of its vision to provide customers with innovative electronic solutions.
Hybrid digital power modules offer efficiency for advanced FPGAs
Renesas Electronics has announced a pair of new encapsulated hybrid digital DC/DC PMBus power modules, the 10A ISL8280M and 15A ISL8282M. The hybrid digital power modules offer power density of 115mA/mm2 in a 12x11mm package, with up to 95% peak efficiency. They are complete single-channel, synchronous step-down regulated power supplies that operate over a wide input voltage range of 5-16V.
