EZBuck regulator supports Intel Rocket Lake for desktop computing
The latest member of the EZBuck regulator family from Alpha and Omega Semiconductor (AOS) supports Intel’s Rocket Lake platform. The AOZ2263VQI-01 and AOZ2263VQI-02 regulators have adjustable output voltage and are offered in a QFN 4.0 x 4.0mm package.
According to AOS, the application-specific regulators offer the industry’s most compact footprint to support VCCIO rails in Rocket Lake platforms.
Intel’s Rocket Lake is constructed with two VCCIO rails - VCCIO_0 and VCCIO_1_2 power multiple I/O in an Intel CPU. In high performance computing systems, VCCIO rails, with high currents are used to support add-on features which require high speed I/O communication. Typically, power implementations require either a controller with external discrete power FETs or a converter with a large package whereas the integrated AOZ2263VQI-01 and AOZ2263VQI-02 include all the power silicon in a single QFN package for 12A.
The 2-bit VID pins allow the VCCIO_0 power rail to adjust for 1.05, 1.075, 1.1, 1.125V and the VCCIO_1_2 to adjust for 0.8, 0.95, 1.0 and 1.05V, depending on multiple systems operating modes.
Both devices have passed the validation requirements included in the Intel Rocket Lake Platform component list, including stringent tests to ensure compliance.
AOS’s proprietary COT architecture provides fast load transient response performance and enables stable and low voltage ripple operation with small-sized ceramic capacitors to reduce solution size and cost, says AOS.
The EZBuck family has a PGOOD output, an integrated bootstrap diode and integrated soft start. Protection features include cycle-by-cycle current limit, short-circuit protection, over-voltage protection and thermal shutdown. A low power mode pin also allows system designs to lower VCCIO rails down to 0V for minimising system power consumption in standby or idle mode.
TheAOZ2263VQI-01 and the AOZ2263VQI-02are immediately available in production quantities with a lead-time of 12 weeks.
