Turning a pinch of salt into an electrical switch
A team of scientists from the University of Liverpool, University College London and the University of Zaragoza in Spain has discovered a way to induce and control a fundamental electrical switching behaviour on the nano-scale.
No-neutral wireless wall switches for smart-home lighting
Power Integrations has announced a new reference design, DER-622, describing a smart wall switch compatible with wiring conditions most commonly found in residential retrofit installations. Typically, smart wall switches with wireless connectivity, occupancy/vacancy sensing and/or voice control require a neutral return wire to power the unit, which is not always available in retrofit situations.
Chassis technology aids high speed data processing
The combination of data, speech and video, new wireless standards, and the high resolution images used in (U)HDTV means transmission frequencies and bandwidths are constantly increasing. Stephan Leng, Applications Engineer, Electronics Division HEITEC AG explains.
Relay from TE Connectivity is small, yet powerful
TE Connectivity has introduced the Potter & Brumfield Power PCB relay T9V series designed for electrical vehicle charging stations, charging cables and for photovoltaic inverter applications. With 40A / 250 VAC ratings in a small form factor, the T9V series relay enables PCB space savings and ultimately smaller applications. The extended contact gap (>1.8mm) provides better isolation and full disconnection of the grid, enabling application...
80A switches ensure reliable electrical isolation
Hylec-APL has announced new model in its range of ISOLATOR switches, which provide fast electrical isolation for multiple applications, including industrial machinery, commercial buildings, power supplies, security equipment and HVAC. ISOLATOR control switches are IP67 rated and withstand water up to a depth of one metre, as well as completely preventing the ingress of dust and dirt, vital in many factory and commercial applications.
Mid-voltage range photorelays offer increased reliability
Two new mid-voltage, high current photorelays have been launched by Toshiba Electronics Europe: the 100V TLP3823 with a 3A drive current, and the 200V TLP3825 with a 1.5A drive current. The new products will extend the range of large current photorelays to replace mechanical relays, alongside Toshiba’s current 60V, 5A TLP3547. Toshiba is supporting and promoting the accelerated replacement of mechanical relays by applying its latest tr...
DC centrifugal fans cut acoustic noise levels
A family of DC centrifugal fans that in typical high performance cooling applications consume 13% less power than competitive products is currently available at EAO. The fans offer significantly reduced acoustic noise levels. Manufactured by Sanyo Denki, the San Ace C175 9TGA DC centrifugal cooling fans measure just 175mm x 69mm.
Relay matrix modules to be showcased at IEEE AUTOTESTCON
Pickering Interfaces will be introducing their new High-Density Modular LXI Ethernet Reed Relay Matrices at IEEE AUTOTESTCON in Schaumburg, IL, September 12-14, 2017. The new Modular LXI Matrix Reed Relay Modules (model 65-22x) were originally designed to test Semiconductors at wafer and package levels. The Reed Relay Matrix solution combines Pickering’s LXI Modular Chassis (model 65-200) with their new plug-in matrix module range&mdas...
Vecow debuts LAN switch computing system
Vecow has debuted her LAN Switch Fanless Embedded System, ECS-9160 Series System.
Heavy duty footswitch serves medical applications
Herga Technology has released a new medical grade footswitch for use in more arduous environments and where higher levels or wear and tear are expected. Based on a well proven industrial footswitch design, the new 625x series is built to comply with IEC 60601-1 and is available as an AC or DC voltage switching device or can be configured as a footswitch-potentiometer for use as a motor controller or similar analogue control.
