Plans to make Abu Dhabi next Sphere venue location

This attraction is set to become a prominent addition to the city, enhancing its entertainment landscape for both residents and visitors.

Following the debut of the first Sphere in Las Vegas in September 2023, which garnered international acclaim, Sphere Entertainment has been actively pursuing its vision to create a global network of Sphere venues. This expansion aims to unlock substantial growth potential and generate new revenue streams by leveraging the company's proprietary technology, expertise, and original content.

The new Sphere in Abu Dhabi will be situated in a prime location and will mirror the scale of the 20,000-capacity venue in Las Vegas, promising to revolutionise entertainment in the region. The venue is expected to become a year-round destination for residents and tourists alike, offering a unique setting for events, concerts, and shows.

DCT Abu Dhabi, which plays a key role in advancing the city's cultural and tourism sectors, will work with Sphere Entertainment to build the venue. In 2023, Abu Dhabi welcomed over 24 million visitors. As part of the agreement – pending finalisation – DCT Abu Dhabi will pay an initial franchise fee for the right to construct the venue using Sphere Entertainment’s designs, technology, and intellectual property. The construction costs will be covered by DCT Abu Dhabi, while Sphere Entertainment will provide expertise in development, construction, and pre-opening activities.

After the venue opens, Sphere Entertainment plans to continue its partnership with DCT Abu Dhabi through annual fees for licensed creative content, including Sphere Experiences, and the use of Sphere’s brand, technology, and intellectual property. The agreement is also expected to cover operational support, commercial guidance, and strategic advisory services.
