Kontron is presenting its new KPanel S Panel PC series at SPS 2024 in Nuremberg, an industrial-grade all-in-one Panel PC that ensures brilliant visualisation of workflows and reliable operation of machines, devices and systems in on-machine operation.

The spectrum ranges from efficient Intel Atom CPUs to extremely powerful Intel Core CPUs, so that even elaborate visualisations can be executed together with complex background tasks. The brilliant display of content is ensured by the anti-glare and anti-fingerprint surface finish, even under difficult lighting conditions. The multi-touch screen can also be operated with gloves and reduces possible input errors thanks to drop and palm rejection. It sits on a hardened glass that cannot be destroyed without tools (IK07).

The KPanel S systems are IP65 protected all round and, with their closed metal housing and passive cooling, achieve a long service life and high system availability even without maintenance. The devices have been developed for different support arm concepts and manufacturers, and access to the I/Os is guaranteed via a hinged flap at the rear. The cables can be laid easily and are securely fixed thanks to the two-stage strain relief. An extension unit is available as an accessory, which enables the individual integration of control devices such as switches, displays, RFID or even emergency stop switches.

The new KPanel S-AML/ADN with the latest Intel Atom x7000(R)E series, Intel Core i3 N series and Intel N series processors offers an excellent price/performance ratio, while the new KPanel S-RPL with 13th generation Intel Core processors ensures a significant increase in performance.

The new Panel PCs offer high-performance DDR5 RAM, M.2 SSDs with up to 1TByte (RAID 0/1 optional) are used for mass storage, and a CF card slot can also be provided on customer request. Fast wireless connections via WiFi 6 and Bluetooth can also be integrated.

In addition to two DisplayPorts, all Panel PCs in the new KPanel S series have two 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces and four USB interfaces, including two fast USB 3.2 ports, one of which has a USB-C socket on the KPanel S-AML/ADN. An additional IP65-protected USB interface on the outside of the device and a 'power button' with status LED are optionally available.

The easy-to-clean, anti-reflective and scratch-resistant display offers IP65 protection, and so-called 'dirty corners' or 'dirty edges' are avoided thanks to a completely flush glass front and beveled housing surfaces. The projected capacitive multi-touch (PCAP) can also be operated with gloves, detects drops (drop rejection) and palm rejection, thus ensuring safe operation.

The new KPanel S series systems are based on Kontron 3.5” SBCs, which are also used in other Kontron Panel PCs, such as the FlatClient, but also in Box PC systems from the KBox A-151 family. This facilitates software maintenance management and the integration of new devices into existing application scenarios.

With the optionally available 'QIWI toolkit', all Panel PCs can be transformed into an intuitive web panel that can be easily configured and maintained. To meet the increased cyber security requirements, Kontron offers the hardened and secure Linux-based operating system KontronOS.

For real-time clock (RTC) applications or applications in high temperature ranges, a CMOS battery solution is available that enables maintenance-free operation.

Kontron will also be at electronica, read more about it here.
