To address eye health concerns such as retinal stress and macular degeneration, AOC has introduced 22″ and 24″ displays with Anti-Blue Light and Flicker FREE technologies.

Excessive exposure to the blue light of display devices causes retinal stress, which is directly related to the forming of age-related macular degeneration, or ARMD. Symptoms include deterioration or complete loss of the central vision. Previously, both software and filter mechanisms have been used to reduce blue light in displays. However, both of these techniques affected display colour fidelity. Based on a special LED technology, the E2276VWM6 and E2476VWM6 adjust the wavelength peak from a harmful 450nm to a safer 460nm. This reduces harmful blue light by over 90%, whilst ensuring that just the right amount of blue light is emitted for accurate colour reproduction.

Flickering, a flashing effect that takes place when the LED backlight controller of a monitor adjusts the brightness levels during display refreshing, can cause eye fatigue without the viewer even noticing. Therefore, alongside the Anti-Blue Light technology, AOC is offering its E2276VWM6 and E2476VWM6 displays with Flicker FREE technology to ensure a zero flickering viewing experience.

The E2276VWM6 and E2476VWM6, which deliver a 1920x1080px Full HD resolution, are also offered with a HDMI connector with a Mobile High-Definition Link 2.0 (MHL 2.0) functionality. This allows smartphone and tablet screens to be mirrored directly onto the 22 or 24″ monitor screen. When plugged into the MHL 2.0, the devices can be recharged, even when playing audio, video, and/or surfing on the internet. Featuring short pixel response times of 1 and 2ms, the displays are particularly suitable for gaming.

The E2276VWM6 and E2476VWM6 with Anti-blue Light and Flicker FREE are available now and priced at £109 and £129, respectively. Both displays are offered with a three-year warranty with on-site exchange service.
