Software tool allows the analysis of antennas of reasonable size

Typical applications for this feature are slotted waveguide antennas (narrow and broad wall), dielectric rod and lens antennas, Dielectric Resonator Antennas (DRA), small wire helical antennas with finite wire diameters. This feature also enables the exact modeling of outer geometries of common waveguide horn antennas.

An improved reflector analysis in µWave Wizard 8.1 supports real feed data modeled by spherical wave expansion including tracking mode support. The new release includes a graphical design tool for standard single and dual offset reflectors, such as prime focus reflectors, Cassegrain and Gregorian systems, and displaced axis dual reflectors. Optional shaping of main and sub-reflectors is possible by user supplied analytical functions.

New elements for the antenna design are introduced, like slotted waveguide antennas, elliptic axially corrugated horn tapers and coaxial fed microstrip patch antennas. The 3D modeler elements have been supplemented with options for radiation pattern calculations.

With this release real time 3D visualisation of all changes in the included interactive tuning feature is introduced. When both the 3D viewer and the interactive tuning feature are opened at the same time, a change of a parameter in the interactive tuning feature will be upgraded in the viewer simultaneously.

Improvements have also been made to µWave Wizard’s editors.

“We have redesigned some of the included property editors, such as the cut-off editor. The property editors are now much clearer and also a lot easier to use for the customer.” said Peter Krauss, Managing Director of Mician. And comparing version 8.1 with previous versions, he added: "With this release speed up of project launch especially for very large projects was again improved and is even faster."

µWave Wizard version 8.1 is available from the beginning of the fourth quarter 2017.
