ProVision Communications has announced the release of ProPhecy™ 2.3, an important upgrade to its advanced network planning and optimising tools for both WiMAX and LTE.
The new version of ProPhecy™ enables the import and display of multiple basestation data from spreadsheets or other file types, allowing the user to work with multiple basestations on a single display, and to create and save groups of basestations to work with at any one time. This breakthrough in functionality provides the network planner with an even more intuitive working environment and enhanced usability, allowing the network to be visualised and optimised as a whole.

ProPhecy™ also delivers other significant usability enhancements in this latest release, improving both tool navigation, functionality and result visualisation. An example, is by using a right-click when over basestations in the display map, relevant site information is provided. These right click menus are context-sensitive, in the display map the site information displayed includes site ID, site name, site group and location. Another area that has been enhanced is the interactive and easy-to-use ‘Route’ creation utility. This feature allows complete flexibility in the definition of route and waypoints. Selected points are now displayed in a list format, showing the coordinates of each point, and the user is able to edit a specific point to define or modify the coordinates accurately.

ProPhecy remains the most accurate WiMAX planning tool on the market, commented ProVision's Director of Wireless Technology, Prof. Andrew Nix. But now the user experience has been significantly enhanced with a new user interface. With the introduction of new tools, such as a flexible sectorisation filter, functionality has been improved to ease the design of multi-basestation networks. The user can now plan WiMAX network in a natural and intuitive manner.

Using ProPhecy to plan a network improves the quality of service (QoS) and maximises the data throughput per user while substantially reducing capital investment and operating costs (CAPEX and OPEX). With full 3D planning and modelling capability based on Radar Cross Section techniques, ProPhecy is one of the most advanced and accurate network planning tools currently available for both urban and rural environments. Results are dramatically better than those obtained with traditional network planning methods that have not been optimised for use with non line of sight (NLOS) systems.
