Lantronix Launches Global XPort Pro Design Contest
Lantronix today announced a design contest based on its recently launched XPort Pro. About the size of two sugar cubes, XPort Pro is the newest addition to Lantronix’ popular XPort® family of embedded Ethernet networking and compute modules used in millions of devices worldwide. XPort Pro is available running Linux and IPv6, offering developers a powerful compute platform with an industry-standard development environment. Lantronix will award prizes of $6,000 and $3,000 to the two top entries for Best Linux Design, and a separate prize of $3,000 for the Best Student Linux Design.
The “Lantronix’ design contest showcases many of the diverse applications that can be developed with our products, from security robots to topological survey drones to even cow houses in Japan,” said Daryl Miller, VP engineering at Lantronix. “The student entries also add a fresh perspective on using network technology. The interest and passion shown by past contestants makes participating in these events a highlight of my job, and we’re excited to present the Linux community with a powerful tool to Web-enable almost any device in a fraction of the typical development time.”
Entries must be submitted by August 6, 2010, and the winners will be announced at ESC Boston September 20-23 at the Hynes Convention Center. Final prize winners will be selected by a panel comprised of industry experts, including Bill Wong, technology editor for Electronic Design magazine and Margery Conner, technical editor for EDN.
We’re excited to launch our XPort Pro design competition and we look forward to seeing the ideas of Linux enthusiasts from across the globe,” said Jerry Chase, chief executive officer of Lantronix. “We expect this contest to give voice to the limitless, creative ideas made possible by the powerful combination of XPort Pro, Linux and the imaginations of the contestants.”
