Java SE 8 is optimised for MIPS architecture

Imagination Technologies has announced Java SE 8 for MIPS, as part of an ongoing collaboration with Oracle intended to enhance Java for embedded and IoT applications and optimise Java for the MIPS CPU architecture. The foundation for a broad range of networked applications, Java is a global standard for developing and delivering embedded, web-based and enterprise content and applications which is playing an increasing role in the IoT.

With Java support for the MIPS architecture, MIPS licensees can make use of this highly portable language and platform for a broad range of applications including routers, wireless access points, residential gateways, next-gen consumer premises equipment, other networking equipment, mobile devices, IoT and embedded computing.

Java SE 8 for the MIPS32 architecture will be available during Q2 2015 directly from MicroDoc GmbH, a Java Integrator.
